Cant find location of downloads file

Open your browser and go to the Downloads page. The history goes back a few months. Next to a file, you will find either a folder icon, or an option to open the containing folder. Click it. This will open the folder that the file was downloaded and saved to. File download managers have a feature similar to browsers. The settings are normally where you can set the folder that all files should be downloaded to.

Right-click the downloaded file or the in-progress download in the torrent client. It also automatically repairs the folder if necessary. Another fix you can try is restoring the Windows system. This will usually help fix can't open Downloads folder in Windows 10 error if the problem arose after you updated Windows. Even small updates can cause features to break and reverting to the previous version will fix anything that was broken as a result.

To use this solution, a Restore Point must be available. For some Windows updates the system will create them. However, this isn't frequent and it's ideal if users remember to create reliable Restore Points. Hopefully, there is a point available in which case, follow these steps. Confirm that you are in the "System Protection" tab, and select the C: Drive.

Click on "Configure" and ensure that the "Turn on System Protection" setting is currently active. Click "Apply" then "OK". Navigate back to the System Properties window and now click the "System Restore…" button. Several restore points will be listed, select the most recent available point presumably right before you updated. Step 5. Windows will walk you through the remaining steps with on-screen instructions. It's worth mentioning that this doesn't impact your personal files.

Only system files will be restored so there's no need to worry about losing personal data from using this Windows tool. Still can't open Downloads Windows 10? The third fix we suggest trying is much simpler than the others so far. After you download any file, Windows takes the liberty of filtering it into a category — music, photos, videos, etc.

Certain folders, like the Pictures folder, are automatically set to optimize files as photos. At the top of the window, locate and right-click on "Downloads", and select "Properties". Click on the "Customize" tab and under the "Optimize this folder for" option, click the drop-down menu and choose "General items".

Check the box "Also apply this template to all subfolders", press the "Apply" button, and click "OK". It may take a few minutes for this change to be applied to the Downloads folder and all of its contents. Afterwards, check if the folder is still inaccessible.

This next fix will come as a surprise for most users. As a result, if even just one file has a corrupt thumbnail that doesn't load properly, you could be blocked from opening Downloads.

Go to the "View" tab and observe the "Advanced settings" section. I'll try to be as clear as possible to make it both easier on you guys, and me. So anyway, last night I downloaded about 5gb worth of torrents, and now they are absolutely nowhere to be found. I tried to right click on the torrent after it was finished downloading and began seeding like i usually do, and clicking "open containing folder", but it only takes me to my documents. And there's not a single folder in My Documents that's even slightly related to uTorrent, so I'm positive the downloads aren't in there.

I attempted to download a small file and will provide a screenshot to let you know what I mean below. But I'm not sure. It could be anywhere on the hard drive if I'm not mistaken. I've tried opening up start and searching for the torrents, but nothing ever comes up. I'll provide another screenshot below. So yeah, I don't know what else to mention.

But any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can't manage to get my space back, I'm gonna flip out. I obviously have a download location directory set, otherwise it wouldn't have downloaded at all.. The thing is it just downloaded to the wrong directory instead of the one I usually use, and now I can't find it. That's one of the first things I tried doing..

Have you set the "Save Directory" column visible in the job list so you can see where uTorrent has put the files? Yeah, see, I was used to the downloads going into my default downloads folder. How do I "set the save directory column visible in the job list"? Where exactly is the column headers context menu? Not trying to ask obvious questions but I'm sort of a n00b at this I guess.

I think I found it. Just took a right click on one of the top columns and I enabled Save Directory. Nothing is under it though? This is really frustrating, all I want is my disk space back since I'm running so low on it. It can't be 'empty', as in completely blank, otherwise your job list would be showing "Files missing from job. Please recheck". What happens when you right click on a job and select "Open containing folder" from the context menu?

This is what pops up under the save directories:. And sorry but you'll have to be more specific when you say "What directories do you have in the root of C: drive? And when I right click then choose open containing folder of a torrent I just downloaded, it takes me to My Documents.

But there's nothing there out of the ordinary that I haven't seen before. And I'm almost certain there are no hidden folders under there that my documents are saving to. Because if there were, I could still go to search and type in the name of the files and they'd pop up. But you have absolutely no jobs loaded? You are not going to find anything using the uTorrent GUI.
